Episodes 1-13
Episode 1: "Hamtaro!"
Hamtaro, the curious pet hamster of 5th grader Laura, sets out to meet the neighbors after they move to a new town. While Laura enjoys a snack with her parents, Hamtaro sneaks out of his cage and down the drainpipe. Once outside, he meets his hamster neighbor Oxnard.
Together they meet up with Boss, a gruff field hamster who shows them around. After showing off his hideout, he takes them to meet the enchanting hamster, Bijou. But, Boss gets tongue-tied until the quick-thinking Hamtaro helps him out by breaking into a Ham-Ham song.
That night Laura shares her day with Hamtaro. She tells him about her new friend Kana whom she met while buying hamster stationary at the store. Then Laura writes in her diary, never imagining that her cuddly Hamtaro has some new friends of his own.
Episode 2: "The Ham-Ham Clubhouse"
On Laura’s first day of school, Hamtaro can't help Laura choose the perfect outfit, but he decides to help by keeping an eye on her at school. He soon gets sidetracked though when he runs into his new friends Oxnard and Boss, who introduce him to more hamster pals.
Suddenly a huge rainstorm sends them under a tree to stay dry. There they encounter a ferocious cat who battles them for territory. Hamtaro saves the day by diverting the cat after a close call with the youngest hamster, Penelope. After that, Boss takes them to his hideout and Howdy gets everyone to clean up Boss’s place. Hamtaro has a great idea: the hideout can become the Ham-Ham Clubhouse!
That night Laura tells Hamtaro about her day, and he learns that Laura’s new friends have pet hamsters of their own. He’ll see them all soon at the new Ham-Ham Clubhouse!
Episode 3: "Calling all Ham-Hams"
Since the opening of the Ham-Ham Clubhouse, Hamtaro is meeting new hamsters every day. But with all the new Hamsters come Ham-personalities that clash. One day when this happens, a fed-up Boss throws everyone out.
In the meantime, Laura gets a perfect score on her math test, but her parents are too busy to hear about it, which hurts Laura. Laura’s friend Kana suggests that she tell Hamtaro who will surely be happy for her, and he is. Laura feels much better and Hamtaro feels better too, and he decides to go to Boss’s house to apologize for the earlier misunderstanding. Once there, he and the other hamsters discover Boss stuck in a tree. Working together they get him down and in no time everyone makes up. That night Laura’s parents congratulate her on her perfect test score. Hamtaro is also happy, having learned that when friends support each other, everything works out.
Episode 4: "Come Out Bijou"
During summer vacation, Laura goes to feed the guppies at school and accidentally spills water all over her skirt. Travis, the handsome boy that Laura secretly admires, happens to be there too and lends her his towel. When she returns it to him the next day, she can't help blushing.
Meanwhile, Boss has a crush on Bijou, but there's a problem: she won't visit him at the Clubhouse. She’s nervous about leaving her cage. Boss gets some help from Hamtaro, who persuades Bijou to make her great escape. When she arrives at the Clubhouse, the Ham-Hams are waiting to throw her a party because everyone is so happy to see her there at last.
Episode 5: "Diamonds of Sugar"
One day, while listening to Laura and Kana plan an evening barbecue, Hamtaro becomes enchanted by what the girls are eating--a sparkling candy called “Diamonds of Sugar”. Puzzled, Hamtaro goes to the Ham-Ham Clubhouse to ask his friends if they’ve heard of these “diamond things.” After many theories from the hamsters, Boss insists the candies come from the sky and are best seen at night.
So that night, while Laura and Kana’s families enjoy the barbecue, the Ham-Hams plan a picnic of their own and set out to catch some candy. After several hamster pyramids and a lot of high jumping, they decide to chase falling stars, but the defeated Hamsters can’t catch a single one.
At the barbecue, Laura and Kana wish on the shooting stars and later at home Laura tells Hamtaro all about it. After learning about the wishes, Hamtaro knows he’ll get it right the next time by wishing that the “Diamonds of Sugar” will fall down all around him.
Episode 6: "First Time at the Beach"
Laura's parents take her on her first trip to the beach, but when they tell her that the water can be dangerous for hamsters, she decides not to take Hamtaro. However, Hamtaro and the Ham-Hams have other ideas! They want to see the ocean, so they make a plan to go to the beach too, after agreeing that if they stick together, they can look out for one another.
Episode 7: "A Summer Festival Adventure"
On a warm summer day, Laura and Kana dress in kimonos to go to the Summer Festival.
Curious to know what a festival is, Hamtaro follows Laura, and meets up with Boss, Maxwell, and Pashmina. Maxwell explains that at such festivals, flowers bloom in the sky! What are these flowers in the sky? When Pashmina tries to find the answer, she gets lost from the group.
The Ham-Hams launch a search party for Pashmina. When they finally find her, she is in tears. But soon she is laughing again, when the Ham-Hams finally see the sparkling flowers of light blooming in the sky!
Episode 8: "The Sunflower Field"
Hamtaro goes with Laura and her family to visit her grandmother in the country. The Ham-Hams are excited for Hamtaro, because Grandmother's house is surrounded by sunflower fields.
When they arrive in the country, Hamtaro learns that Boss has come along in the car! While Laura and Grandma are painting on the hillside, Hamtaro gets out of his cage to play with Boss in the sunflower fields. But when they decide to return, they realize that they've gotten lost! When Laura finds Hamtaro, she tells him she's sorry for not keeping a better eye on him.
Back at the Clubhouse, Hamtaro and Boss can't wait to tell the other Ham-Hams about their big adventure in the country, and of course to share with them lots of sunflower seeds.
Episode 9: "Much Ado About School"
After Laura begins a new semester, the Ham-Ham pals start to wonder if they might be missing something by not going to school. So after Hamtaro, Oxnard, and Boss sneak into Laura's school for a day to check things out, the Ham-Hams set up a separate school of their own.
They agree that the book-smart Maxwell should be the teacher, but when he starts the lessons, the Ham-Hams lose interest and fall asleep. Then Maxwell coaches them in soccer, but a fight breaks out after Howdy gets a penalty for roughhousing. When the Ham-Hams start thinking that maybe school is not for them, Hamtaro insists they keep on trying. Cappy suggests they go to music class and once the Ham-Hams start singing, they all agree that school is not so bad. That evening, Laura tells Hamtaro about her day, and Hamtaro agrees that there is a good chance they'll both enjoy the semester.
Episode 10: "Jingle the Wanderer"
Laura's father asks her to deliver an important floppy disk to his office. While Laura packs her bag, Hamtaro gets trapped inside. On the way to Mr. Haruna's office, Hamtaro picks up two hitchhikers, Oxnard and Penelope, who have just escaped from an angry crow. When Oxnard's sunflower seed falls to the ground, Oxnard jumps out of Laura's bag to go after it, and Hamtaro and baby Penelope follow, not knowing that the yellow disk has slipped out of Laura's bag too.
The hamsters get lost in the park and run into Jingle, the wandering Ham-Poet, who plays them prophetic ballads on his guitar. Soon an upset Laura appears, retracing her steps with her father, and when the Ham-Hams overhear that she has lost the floppy disk, they feel they must help her find it (even though they are not sure what a 'flo-pee' disk is for). Soon they discover that the rambling Jingle has found the disk and plans to use it as his new, hard, square, yellow pillow. Knowing that it's more important than a pillow, the Ham-Hams persuade him to give it back to them, and they are able to return it to Laura's coat pocket.
Episode 11: "The Wise Elder Ham"
It's Grandparents Day, and when Grandma comes for a visit she shows Laura an old clock that she and her friend, Kaitlyn bought years ago. Laura is touched by the story and decides to surprise her grandmother by trying to find her long-lost friend for her.
Hamtaro soon gets wind of this plan and asks his Ham-Ham friends to help. Sleepy Snoozer wakes up long enough to tell them to ask Elder-Ham, the city's wise old hamster, and sure enough Elder-Ham offers clues to Kaitlyn's whereabouts. The hamsters plan a "chance" meeting between the two old friends and find themselves responsible for an emotional and touching reunion. Actually, it was the wise old Elder-ham who provided all of the important answers.
Episode 12: "Bijou's in Danger"
When Laura and Kana go shopping, the Ham-Hams go along, but soon find danger in the shopping district. A large, mean cat lives in an alley in the district, and after Bijou goes down the alley, she doesn't return!
The Ham-Hams go looking for her and find that Bijou has fainted among the alley-cat's kittens after being frightened by the protective mother cat. The Ham-Hams attempt a dramatic rescue, but Hamtaro and Boss are chased, and the others get trapped under a bucket. Unexpectedly, Laura and Kana show up and begin fawning over the baby kittens. The proud mother cat turns her attention away from the hamsters, and at last the Ham-Hams are able to make their escape.
Episode 13: "Let's Dance Sandy"
Hamtaro and the Ham-Hams are rehearsing for their performances in Elder-Ham's annual Sunflower Seed Harvest Festival. Boss is studying for the lead role in a play and the Ham-Ham girls are practicing their gymnastics routine. Sandy, the agile athlete of the group, has a big crush on Maxwell, because he reminds her so much of her twin brother, who she hasn't seen since she was young. Sandy asks Hamtaro to see if Maxwell feels the same about her, and the other girls pester Hamtaro about it too.
When the day of the performance arrives, the girls impress both Elder-Ham and Maxwell; Hamtaro sees this as a chance to ask Maxwell about Sandy, but he can't find the words. Soon he's distracted when baby Penelope almost falls off the stage, but she's rescued by Sandy. Elder-Ham is so impressed with Sandy's heroism that he awards her and the girls the Grand Prize, a pyramid of sunflowers! Elder-Ham notices how much Sandy looks like a boy hamster he once knew. Could it be that Sandy's brother is closer than she thought? The Ham-Hams vow to find out.
